Worst traffic in America: Beautiful climate.

Crime in the area is way above normal, and residents are underemployed and way underpaid.

It’s a shame such a large city has been on such a long downward spiral.

No way La Habra is better than Brea. He mentioned Mendota but the smart guy leaves out all the surrounding towns which are basically no better. Although Clearlake has many picturesque spots that give the impression it is a peaceful area, there has been a recent surge in crime rates in this city that has put it at ninth position on the list. !

Really, before commenting & sounding illiterate, uneducated or too lazy to read, READ THE ARTICLE, not just the list!

This brings the total number of violent crimes in Stockton that are reported in one year to 4,379.

It has a crime rate that is approximately 76 percent higher than the average for California and 89 percent higher than the national average. I have lived all over the United States, and I have always come back to Clearlake. BARSTOW being # 56

Adelanto has the exact same problems that Lucerne Valley has, and it's located only a half hour away.

To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life. Pay too much for your house.

Median Home Value: $194,500 (38th worst) One of the things that tends to bring values and desirability down is a large homeless population, as it tends to add the element of property crimes or even personal crime, however, the homeless tend to gather in places with a more temperate climate and plenty of resources to beg for or get money and to be safe enough to live on the street and not be murdered or assaulted.

It is located between the Pacific Ocean and the steeply rising Santa Ynez Mountains. As a repeat city on our 100 Best Places to Live, it’s hard to believe Ventura wouldn’t break the budget.
